Macnica at InterBee 2023

Macnica is all set to make its mark at InterBEE 2023, where we will unveil our latest innovations that highlight the seamless integration of SMPTE ST 2110 and IPMX standards. This event, scheduled from November 15 to 17 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, serves as Macnica’s inaugural appearance at InterBEE in stand 5205.
The focus of Macnica’s demonstrations are the harmonious use of SMPTE ST 2110 and IPMX standards, especially in light of the imminent ratification of the IPMX suite of open standards in 2024. While SMPTE ST 2110 is known for its stringent regulations governing the transportation of video, audio, and ancillary data over IP links, the IPMX suite offers a similar feature set but with greater flexibility. IPMX empowers users with the freedom to choose from various technology options, including handling asynchronous signals, compressed or uncompressed video, and the choice to use Precision Time Protocol (PTP) or not. This enhanced adaptability sets the stage for innovative media workflows that facilitate content delivery to a wider range of endpoints. Macnica’s solutions will be displayed in action, seamlessly interacting with HDMI and SDI sources, effectively condensing an entire broadcast production and conference room experience within the exhibit space.

Enable new architectures in IP-native and hybrid media environments

A standout feature of Macnica’s offerings is the M2S Software Development Kit (SDK), designed to provide a unified interface for real-time video streams. This innovative SDK allows for the implementation of software-based or FPGA-accelerated ST 2110 and IPMX systems on general-purpose servers. This flexibility makes it an ideal solution for broadcast systems, whether they operate on-premises or in the cloud, especially within the realm of “All-IP” workflows.
One of the noteworthy aspects of the M2S SDK is its compatibility with a wide range of Network Interface Cards (NIC), offering users the freedom to build products tailored to their specific needs. Additionally, Macnica’s upcoming 100G Smart NIC solution enhances possibilities for developers. This solution combines the Intel N6000 SmartNIC network interface controller (NIC) card with Macnica’s FPGA IP Cores, delivering high-performance, low-latency ST 2110 and IPMX flows while minimizing CPU and GPU usage. The Intel N6000 SmartNIC also adds value by supporting ST 2022-7 “hitless merge,” which ensures network path redundancy in advanced media workflows, bolstering overall system reliability.

Create game-changing applications with real-time

InterBEE attendees will have the chance to explore how the M2S SDK seamlessly interfaces with Unreal Engine, a renowned high-performance engine often associated with real-time graphics and special effects in the gaming industry. These technologies are gaining prominence in the media and entertainment sector for live production and high-bandwidth video workflows, particularly in virtual set productions.

Macnica will showcase the flagship ME10 SoC  and IPMX Product Development Kit, complete with open APIs, as part of their standards-based technology demonstrations. Additionally, a sneak peek of a new IPMX to HDMI AV over IP gateway device, designed for HDMI sources and destinations, will be on display.
Macnica looks forward to demonstrating our dedication to open standards interoperability and the transformative potential of SMPTE ST 2110 and IPMX standards in media workflows. With the IPMX suite of standards approaching ratification, Macnica is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in expanding the reach of IP media systems, catering to a broader market while delivering cost-effective, high-performance solutions.
