The Video Services Forum is pleased to announce that a number of live demonstrations of the latest technologies for transporting video and audio over IP networks will take place as well as an interoperability stage at this year's conference and exposition.

Pre-conference tutorial: Two Amazing Years of Progress in IP Video

Description: Since the last in-person gathering over two years ago, much has changed in the world of IP video. Technologies such as JPEG XS and RIST have become commercial successes, and IPMX has started to reach critical mass. The ST 2110 standards suite has been updated, and work continues on making PTP, NMOS, and everything else more secure and reliable. Huge steps have also been taken in developing specifications for ST 2110 over WAN and Ground-to-Cloud interfaces. As operations continue to migrate towards remote production, these developments have become critical to the media business.

Wes Simpson, founder of LearnIPVIdeo.com, will host his always-popular tutorial on Monday afternoon, June 13th, that gives a technical update on these developments over the past two years. Join us to see how these changes are helping to streamline and expand the capabilities of IP video systems.

IP Showcase at NAB April 24-27, 2022

The IP Showcase is committed to educating attendees at major industry events on the business and creative potential of IP media solutions.

The IP Showcase will return live and in person at the 2022 NAB Show, April 23-27 in Las Vegas, at Booth W3925.

At NAB 2022 NAB Show in Las Vegas, the IP Showcase will continue to address market requirements as media operations move toward all-IP connectivity and content delivery to multiscreen platforms. Attendees who stop by Booth W3925 can learn how the evolving SMPTE ST 2110 standards and AMWA NMOS technology stack are improving media workflows for large and small deployments alike.

Because the transport layer for media over IP is well established and IP Showcase can now focus on easing deployments for end-users, attendees will also find various resources designed to facilitate a smooth migration to IP. Simple. Scalable. Proven. The IP Showcase booth will include both technical presentations and demonstrations that serve as useful examples to media organizations making this critical shift. As always, the popular event will also highlight the great strides the industry has made in achieving an all-IP ecosystem for today’s real-world media productions.

NABSHOW 2021: Exhibits October 10 – 13, 2021

NABSHOW 2021: Where Content Comes to Life

Macnica will feature the EASYSS10 SDI-10G IP Gateway Module and EASYSS10 Development Kit. The EASYSS10 is a full-stack, small form factor SoM (System on Module) that enables OEM customers to easily add SDI-to-IP gateway functions to their broadcast and professional AV products with a minimal investment in engineering. Designed for use on 10 Gbps networks, the EASYSS10 can simultaneously convert up to three 3G-SDI streams (1080p) or six HD-SDI streams (480p, 720p or 1080i) for transport on Internet Protocol networks using the SMPTE 2110 suite of standards.

ST 2110 is fast becoming the standard for transporting video over IP networks in broadcast environments. It is a truly open standard, promising plug-and-play interoperability of all kinds of media devices. Still, to use ST 2110 in a video product, you would normally need to make a significant investment in engineering time. That’s where Macnica comes in. As a SMPTE member company, we have spent years helping to develop ST 2110 and related standards, while at the same time packaging our knowledge and intellectual property for other companies to use. We also support the movement within SMPTE to publically test and certify the compliance of various products to industry standards. Macnica’s “Media over IP Package” design was tested and certified for both ST 2110 and NMOS at a JT-NM qualification event in August 2019.

We also have a suite of 4K AV-over-IP Pro AV solutions built to the IP Media Experience aka. IPMX open standard. IPMX builds on foundational work from SMPTE, AWMA, and VSF. For media transport, IPMX uses the SMPTE ST 2110 standard. It is the de-facto IP protocol adopted by the M&E industry for the carriage of video, audio, and data over IP networks. Its support for both uncompressed and compressed video and audio makes it ideal for Pro AV applications. We look forward to seeing you live at the event to learn more.
